GeoServer is a powerful open-source server for publishing geospatial data and making it accessible through standard web services. It is widely used for building enterprise GIS, Web GIS applications and spatial data infrastructures.

This practical training introduces participants to GeoServer and takes them through the complete workflow of connecting spatial databases, publishing layers, applying styles and exposing geospatial data through OGC-compliant services.

Hands-on Exercises

Participants will work with real-world spatial datasets and build a complete publishing workflow:

PostGIS → GeoServer → WMS/WFS → Web GIS

The exercises will include creating a workspace, connecting a PostGIS database, publishing layers, applying styles and consuming the services in a Web GIS application.

Prerequisites
